Assistive Technologies (cont.)
Here is a quick recap from last week's blog post on what Assistive Technologies are :
[What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive technology (AT) is products, equipment, and systems that enhance learning, working and daily living for persons with disabilities. There are many different kinds of assistive technology that we can spot everywhere. There can be low tech, high tech, hardware, computer hardware, apps on our IPhones, customized for a specific person, and so much more.
There are many ways to find assistive technologies that work for different children and people. To find it there are also many resources online that talk about them and where you could possibly find some.]
What if I were to create one?
Some great examples of smart-device assistive technologies come from many apps that children and adults can use on their phone, to assist with whatever action they may need. If I were to create my very own assistive technology for a smart-device, I would focus on one for children who have hearing disabilities.
- objective : to create a fun and creative app for children to use, that will help them learn ASL, as well as the parents of those children.
- main functionality : help kids learn how to sign basic things such as fruits, places, letters, animals, etc.
